Staff from across RfM’s North West offices recently came together for a fun day of Crown Green Bowling and outdoor games hosted by our wellbeing team.
Unusually, RfM has two competitive Crown Green Bowlers in its ranks – Sharon Rigden and Callum Danson – who each captained a team in the inaugural staff bowling competition at Guy’s Court in Billsborrow, Garstang. Alongside the bowls, there was a selection of garden games for staff to play including inflatable axe throwing, tug of war, a penalty shoot-out, and giant Jenga. Staff also enjoyed a hearty lunch fresh from the BBQ.
The event was organised by the RfM wellbeing team who plan activities across the year to support and promote staff wellbeing.
The final result was a win for Sharon’s bowling team and a huge well done to the wellbeing team for putting on this fun event.
Why wellbeing is a business priority
The Covid pandemic changed the rules of the office and the working day. Many of our staff have since adopted a hybrid working pattern that sees them balancing working from home with time in the office – sometimes more than one office. Feeling supported, valued and part of a team can make a positive difference to their enjoyment of work, levels of stress, and mental wellbeing.
The wellbeing team have been trained as Mental Health First Responders by St John’s ambulance. They are there to listen to any colleagues who may be struggling with their mental health and to signpost them to sources of support, as appropriate.
There are also resources on display in each office to help colleagues assess how they are feeling and guide them through their next steps should they need further support.
More fun social events that bring our colleagues together are also planned for the future.
The Wellbeing Team have been supported by RfM Transform HR to ensure they approach staff wellbeing appropriately and sensitively. If you would like to know more, please contact Tony Backhouse or call 01772 431233.
